  73. 1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
  74.  
  75.     A.  Elastomeric coating specified herein is a tough,
  76.         flexible, heavy-duty waterproof material with over 500
  77.         percent elongation properties, allowing moisture vapor
  78.         transmission.
  79.  
  80.     B.  Primer products are specifically designed for
  81.         compatibility with elastomeric coating.
  82.  
  83. 1.5 SUBMITTALS
  84.  
  85.     A.  Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
  86.  
  87.     B.  Product Data:  Three copies of manufacturer's current
  88.         technical data sheets for materials.

  94. 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  95.  
  96.     A.  Installer Qualifications:  Minimum five years experience
  97.         regularly engaged and specializing in the application of
  98.         specialty surface treatments to exterior wall substrates.
  99.  
  100.     B.  Pre-Installation Meetings:
  101.         1.  Before Application:  Installer and Manufacturer's
  102.             Representative shall inspect surfaces to be treated,
  103.             noting in writing to the Architect, deficiencies or
  104.             flaws in the substrate construction which would
  105.             affect the performance or appearance of the
  106.             elastomeric coating.
  107.         2.  Beginning of Application:  Manufacturer's
  108.             Representative shall assure utilization of proper
  109.             equipment, verify material quantities, and supervise
  110.             material application techniques upon a substantial
  111.             wall section.  This wall section shall act as a
  112.             comparative standard for the project.
  113.  
  114.     C.  Installer shall not proceed with material application
  115.         until all deficiencies noted in pre-application
  116.         inspection report have been corrected.
  117.  
  118.     D.  Installer shall notify manufacturer no less than 72 hours
  119.         before starting application.
  120.  
  121. 1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  122.  
  123.     A.  Deliver materials in original sealed containers, clearly
  124.         marked with manufacturer's name, type of material, and
  125.         batch number.
  126.  
  127.     B.  Inspect the materials upon delivery to assure that
  128.         specified products have been received.
  129.  
  130.     C.  Store materials where temperatures are not less than 40
  131.         degrees F (4.5 degrees C).
  132.  
  133.     D.  Use all means necessary to protect material before,
  134.         during, and after installation, and to protect work of
  135.         other trades.
  136.  
  137. 1.8 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  138.  
  139.     A.  All materials shall comply with current Federal and State
  140.         environmental requirements.
  141.  
  142. 1.9 WARRANTY
  143.  
  144.     A.  Manufacturer's Material Warranty:  Manufacturer's
  145.         warranty against water intrusion:
  146. NOTE ** Contact manufacturer for warranty period based on
  147.         project requirements and select appropriate
  148.         subparagraph below.
  149.         1.  Warranty Period:  Five years from date of Substantial
  150.             Completion.
  151.         2.  Warranty Period:  Ten years from date of Substantial
  152.             Completion.

  154.     B.  Installer Warranty:  Warrant workmanship for a period of
  155.         two years from the date of Substantial Completion.

  160. 2.1 MANUFACTURERS

  170. 2.2 MATERIALS
  171.  
  172.     A.  Primer:  Rainguard Products Company "Tec-Seal" or "Tec-
  173.         Seal II" primer, as recommended by manufacturer for
  174.         specific substrate.
  175.  
  176.     B.  Elastomeric Coating:  Rainguard Products Company "Tec-
  177.         Top" elastomeric coating, meeting or exceeding FS TT-P-
  178.         19, TT-P-55, and TT-C-555 by performance.

  181. PART 3  EXECUTION
  182.  
  183. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  184.  
  185.     A.  Verify that surfaces to be coated are in proper
  186.         condition.
  187.         1.  New substrates: Cured 30 days before application.
  188.         2.  Cured substrates:  Allowed to dry three to seven days
  189.             in warm, clear weather following rainfall before
  190.             application.
  191.         3.  Substrate moisture content:  No higher than 15
  192.             percent as registered on an electronic moisture
  193.             meter.
  194.  
  195.     B.  Where freezing conditions have existed before
  196.         application, allow adequate time for building to thaw.
  197.  
  198. 3.2 PREPARATION
  199.  
  200.     A.  Thoroughly clean substrates of foreign substances, such
  201.         as dirt, efflorescence, mortar spills, dust, chalk,
  202.         laitance, form oils, and loose paint.
  203.  
  204.     B.  Protect work of other trades against damage by coating,
  205.         whether to be coated or not.
  206.  
  207. 3.3 APPLICATION
  208.  
  209.     A.  Apply materials in strict accordance with manufacturer's
  210.         recommendations and when substrate surface temperature is
  211.         between 45 and 90 degrees F (7 and 32 degrees C).
  212.  
  213.     B.  Apply primer; allow to cure 24 hours before application
  214.         of elastomeric coating.
  215.  
  216.     C.  Brush, roll, or spray elastomeric coating using
  217.         conventional mastic equipment or large capacity airless
  218.         spray equipment.
  219.  
  220.     D.  Apply number of coats of elastomeric coating as
  221.         recommended by manufacturer for specific substrate.
  222.  
  223.     E.  Backroll elastomeric coating as necessary to provide a
  224.         pinhole free application of uniform finish, color, and
  225.         appearance.
  226.  
  227. 3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
  228.  
  229.     A.  Manufacturer's Representative shall inspect all coated
  230.         surfaces after work is complete to verify proper
  231.         application.
  232.  
  233. 3.5 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
  234.  
  235.     A.  If damage occurs, immediately make all repairs and
  236.         replacements necessary at no additional cost to Owner.
  237.  
  238.     B.  During process of work, remove discarded coating
  239.         materials, rubbish, cans, and rags at end of each
  240.         workday.
  241.  
  242.     C.  Correct any damage by cleaning, repairing or replacing,
  243.         and recoating, as acceptable to Architect.
